The Great Pyrenees is a breed from the mountainous regions of Spain and France. He's independent, and calm, but with a very strong mind of his own. This breed is an independent thinker and may come across as stubborn. Going back to it's roots, it was necessary to use his own judgment with perceived threats when there were no humans to guide him.
The Great Pyrenees is sensitive. Patience and a soft hand is best for him to trust you and bond with family. Harshness and trying to be "alpha" does not go over well with this breed. He is gentle with his family (or herd), bonds quickly, and will defend them fiercely. They are generally calm until the need arises to spring to action.
